Swedish massage includes techniques that glide and knead the tissues of the body with the use of fingers, palms and/or forearms.  There is a distinctive rate, rhythm, flow and depth which is applied.   The transitions between the different techniques should be fluid and smooth.  Depending on the goal of the client and the therapist,  many or only a few of the techniques may be used.  If an individual has numerous knots and irritable spots, deeper pressure may be utilized; however, the depth of pressure is always negotiated before and during the treatment.  The client always has the final say on the treatment techniques and pressure they are receiving.
